What is a doula?
Postpartum support - here for YOU
A doula is an expert in supporting YOU and your baby after birth. I will meet you in your home at the time you most need it and support you with what you need most! It can be so hard to ask for help but with a doula, you won't have to ask.
Service and information often include: infant feeding, guidance and assistance with physical recovery from birth, parent to baby bonding, infant soothing, and basic newborn care.
Emotional Support
Recovery is our priority! This will be an emotional journey for you as you learn your new body and baby. I will be there to listen, understand and explain. We will learn together what you need and develop strategies to help you feel secure.
Physical Support
Your physical body will need support. I can assist you with your recovery (within normal means) and educate you to continue to recover safely. Physical support can also come in the form of light housekeeping, baby wearing, or assisting with some light meal prep. These are just some examples of how a doula can help you at home!
How doulas work with a partner
This is a dynamic that we will discuss together to ensure that everyone feels supported! Your partner can be your life support in those early days and deserves to feel supported as well.
We can discuss strategies, coping techniques, communication styles, expectations and more.
Informational Support
There are many resources in your community and online to aid you in your postpartum journey. As you grow into your role, I can help refer you to local supports for things such as lactation, sleep, mental health and physical health.
